Yes, I have been quiet lately with a lot going on here?!? We are finally out of the hotel and into the permanent apartment we have all been anxiously waiting for! I know many of you have seen some pics of the complex we’re in but Wow! All the rain here daily during Monsoon season has really made the green spaces exceptionally lush. It is beautiful to look out over from the patio (5th floor) and to go down and walk in as well!

Now the waiting game is on for mid August when our Sea Cargo is due in port at Mumbai India. The container includes the furniture mainly, household goods and everything else that didn’t make the Air Cargo container that arrived early July, actually the second day of moving into the apartment. So here, as in UK and many other places the apartment is called a flat. That sounds a bit strange to us?

Being in the flat we are now able to cook for ourselves and that is a whole new world. Nothing about cooking is like being in the USA! The biggest difference is there are very few items you can get that are even close to familiar. And when the brand is familiar, or what an item is called is the same as for instance tomato sauce. Well, it’s nothing like the tomato sauce we know?! It’s really been fun figuring out what to do and how to improvise to make meals. Even the fresh fruits and vegetables look different, taste different and it’s all good -just different! Everything is measured in grams and the sizes are always small. Tiny jars and little bags. Many of the stores don’t have any meat.

So for now, it’s a learning process on getting around the immediate neighborhood and trying different stores. Basic things you do anywhere you move that’s new. Just waiting on the furniture to show up. There is temporary beds, a table and chairs and a couch and chairs that were provided until the furniture shipment arrives so we are not just standing around an empty home-but it sure feels empty!

Have you ever seen what mattresses are like in India? That will be a story for another day!

Here’s a few pics of the outdoor surroundings where we live.

Thank you for being here as we figure this out!

Please feel free to ask questions on things I’ve mentioned if you’re curious for more information?! There is so much to tell you all!
