So much to do!

My passport finally arrived and it’s now on to getting a visa and insurance and all the things needed for an extended trip to a third world country! India! The rest of us already have their paperwork because they have already been there for a 10 day trip.

Yes, it still sounds so odd to me that we’re actually going but on the other hand with time and lots of work we are ready to go and see what the adventures will be?

I keep going back to my first thought when the kids told us about the possibility of going to work in India, the country! I remember I said “WHAT? India”? Now after tons of research and seeing the kids go there to secure a home, a school for Luke and getting their first taste of the surroundings they will be in it’s becoming a reality that really isn’t as scary as it seemed previously. It is funny to us though: when people hear what is happening, where we’re going the first words is always “WHAT? India?

People are just people anywhere you go, do you agree? Language barriers maybe a problem but we’ll figure it out. Eric and Tiffany said there’s always nice people around to help in their experience. At their workplace English is required. We will also always have a driver because we are not allowed to drive per the company the kids are employed by. Thank Goodness! The traffic is awful and no one goes by any laws or rules nor do they use lanes. It’s a free for all with continuous horn honking! The driver is always very helpful and a wealth of information. He is also a protector of his passengers as well. It’s a service the company pays for, for all their ex pat employees.

Culture and customs we will learn, sooner than later we are hoping!!! It's very important there, and we are coming into their country and it’s on us to be mindful and respectful of their ways of all living together. I am a bit concerned about my being totally left handed. I am a solid left hand user only kind of person and I hear you don’t want to do certain actions when greeting others or eating or I don’t know what all with the left hand? I have googled what to do when you’re left handed in India? What do they with their left handed people? I’m kinda worried I’m going to do the wrong thing? I have been trying to watch what I do and yeah-going to have to work on that? I have read that it isn’t nearly as important as it used to be! Fingers crossed🤞

Here’s a a short run down of the next steps:

Closing soon on kids house in Houston.

Packing and sorting will happen second week in May for Air Cargo, Sea Cargo and items put in storage by professional movers for the containers. (Oh so many rules)

Luke will finish school year.

Last minute visits and staying in hotels because all their belongings have already left for India by air and by sea!

Thanks so much for stopping in and yes, this deal is real close to getting very real!
