1947 India became independent, so 2024 marks 77 years of freedom. Their celebrations are much the same as ours but of course it’s all new to us so we really enjoyed the festivities!

Although while we all enjoy home barbecues, picnics and parties… And Fireworks🎆

Here, there were programs to attend with speakers and dancing and singing.

An older gentleman, the father of a resident here where we live was our speaker. He was 90 years old and had worked as a doctor for over 50 years delivering a record amount of 15,000 babies with his wife as his nurse. He also served in the India Military for 20 years. His story was short but so interesting and he mentioned it was his first time ever delivering a speech in English!
