Happy Birthday Tiffany🎂

Tiffany was the first of us to celebrate a birthday since arriving in India. I don’t think any of us really thought past the four of us having dinner as a family and well, no one here will really know it’s her birthday?

Well, wrong! It seems birthdays are a big deal here!

When I went to the front desk to make a dinner reservation and order a cake and flowers to be at the table, and the celebration was on! The three women behind the desk lit up with delight and started planning! One calls the kitchen about the cake, one is on the phone about flowers, one is asking when Tiffany will be out for the day so they can have our living room decorated with flowers and balloons? And yes, they decorated big! It was amazing and the communication well, hilarious because their English is very broken so there was a lot of blank looks and well ok just do something pretty for the cake and flowers. I left not knowing at all what we were getting, but in the end not at all disappointed. They did a wonderful job!

Even our driver knew and sent a Happy Birthday text early and presented her a gift when taking her to the office. He was all smiles and very gracious.

Everyone knew at Tiff’s office as well, so there was lots of birthday wishes and gifts and a cake. The cake was cut and each (15) coworker fed her a bite and put frosting on her nose! Yep, they said it’s tradition and showed her pics of others having the same thing done-so she went with it! Wish I had some pics of that?!

That evening we had dinner, with the cake and flowers that turned out beautifully and some friends from BP that are staying here as well joined us!

I think Tiffany had a pretty great day!

This post is not to diminish all the wonderful birthday wishes and love sent from family and friends. It was just so unexpected and greatly appreciated from new friends in new place! The people here are so kind, giving and very fun loving.
