At one month out and it's getting very real -- we ARE going to India!!!
I have been in Houston a lot lately helping with the household organizing and getting ready for the move that is coming up on us very soon. We are in the "what goes to India, what goes to storage and what is donated and/or trashed" phase of the move. Between working from home, getting Luke back and forth to school, and all of the moving to a foreign country activities going on, there are also many trips happening on the weekends saying goodbye to family and friends.
Of course, the entire relocation is very professionally taken care of by the company my kids work for. While it feels like we are the only people in the whole world ever to do this...obviously people do this kind of thing everyday! The company has guidelines, procedures, conference calls, you name it for each part of the relocation. Ex: Health Medical Clearance for each family member.
(They all cleared.)
It is a sea of endless lists that must be dealt with. Decisions have to be made regarding every facet of day to day life. Dental appointments, doctor appointments, eye doctor appointments, insurance questions, medicine prescription questions, vaccine decisions, financial decisions, subscriptions to cancel, mail forwarding questions, cell phone decisions, what to do with vehicles, and most important things like passports and visas or there is no trip at all?! It has all been very interesting and I have already learned a lot!
As the days count down from what seems like forever ago when "this" all began, realization is setting in that it won't be long and we will be on an adventure of a lifetime to destinations unknown! What a wonderful crazy opportunity!
I want to thank you for looking in on my page and hope you will read on with us as I chronicle our adventures along the way. And please feel free to comment - I would love to hear from you!
